Torre Abbey was built in 1196 and was a monastery before being turned into a private residence for the more prominent citizens of Torquay. The mansion is now a grade 1 listed building and the museum has an art gallery and exhibits that include English glass, sculptures and antiquities. Torre Abbey is closed until mid 2008 due to major restoration work. Opening times are usually 21 March - 1 November from 9:30am - 6pm Admission adults £3 with concessions for OAP, children, disabled, students and groups.
