Around Buttermere is a fairly easy walk which is flat all the way round about five miles long. Parking is in Buttermere National Park car park behind Fish Hotel there is a fee. This relaxing lake walk surprises you with a low damp dark tunnel the only one of its kind in the lake District. The tunnel was made for George Benson a mill owner so he could walk around the lake without straying too far from its shore.
