Istanbul Naval Museum (Istanbul, Turkey)

The Naval Museum first opened its doors to the publick in 1897 when it was known as the ‘Sea Museum’. It contains a rich collection of exhibits which are divided between two buildings and the garden. The garden has items from many battleships. The first building contains old ships, model ships and items from the private yacht of Kemal Ataturk, the ‘father’ of modern Turkey, as well as many paintings of naval battles. Finally, the second building exhibits ships dating from the time of the Ottoman Empire. The museum is opened daily except Monday and Tuesday from 09.30a.m. - 12.30p.m. and 1.30p.m - 5.30p.m.
