It is a sandy beach with rock pools that offers the opportunity for fossil hunting at low tide. You can swim in the sea, or alternatively go surfing or kayaking. Activities nearby include the Revolution Skatepark and Climbing Centre, and North Foreland Golf Club. As well as a lifeguard service, Botany Bay has a lost child centre and toilets with disabled facilities. Deck chairs are available for hire. There is a choice of accommodation, including the Botany Bay Hotel, which has a restaurant. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 10am and 6pm from the beginning of May until the end of September.
