St Edmund's (Somerleyton, United Kingdom)

St Edmund’s, in Fritton near Somerleyton, is one of the 124 round-tower churches in Norfolk. The church dates back to the 12th century and was built of flint. There are still some original features present although the church was altered and enlarged over the centuries. In 1967 a sequence of wall-paintings which depict the martyrdom of St Edmund were discovered . The paintings are dating back to the 14th century and are now one of the most complete sequences on St Edmund in the country. The stained glass windows of the church depict the saints of East Anglia and were added during the early 20th century. The church is open daily during daylight hours and there is no admission fee.
