The zoo in Sofia is not only the oldest, but also the largest one in the country. It was founded in 1888, but has outgrown its former location at the Royal Palace long since and moved in 1984. It can be accessed either from Simeonovsko Shausee or the Hladilnika district. The zoo is home to more than 1100 animals which belong to 244 species and also offers stands with refreshments and a playground. Open daily from 08.00 - 16.00.
