The international Sofia Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Bulgaria. Every year it serves over 5 million passengers and 65 airplane companies. The airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 was built in the early twentieth century, and was extended many times. The last renovation was made in year 2000. Its old style is preserved and includes heavy chandeliers and wall mosaics. There are cafes, shops and baggage packing service for a cost of 2 Euro per suitcase. Terminal 2 was opened in 2006 and it was built according to the international standards. It has 8 levels connected by elevators and escalators, and has on its territory shops, bars, restaurants, banks, money exchange, 10 rent-a-car companies and provides all the necessary services. The Sofia airport serves lines to many cities in Europe, Africa and the middle East. There is pay parking in front of the airport, which costs 1 Euro per hour. The airport can be reached also by bus № 84 as well as by taxi at a price of about 4 euros to the city centre (8 kms)
