Cleethorpes Beach (Cleethorpes, United Kingdom)

Cleethorpe’s beach stretches for 5km but is actually on the banks of the River Humber rather that the coast, although it lies close to the point where the Humber flows out into the North Sea. The beach became a popular holiday destination during the 19th century and as its popularity increased a number of attractions grew up around it. In addition to the fine sandy beach there are brackish lagoons and areas of sea marsh that are an important haven for wildlife. These areas are designated local nature reserves. The beach has won two different quality awards: The Bucket and Spade Award and the Away From It All award. Deck chairs and sun lounges are available for hire on the beach and there are donkey rides for children during the summer months. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between May and September.
