Cambridge Arts Theatre (Cambridge, United Kingdom)

The Cambridge Arts Theatre opened in 1936 and its building was largely funded by the economist J M Keynes. It has staged many University Dramatic Club productions and up to the year 2000 was the venue for the famous Footlights revues. It has, therefore, seen the launch of many famous acting, comedy and production careers. Many plays have had their world premières here before moving to the West End, the most famous being Pinter’s The Birthday Party. The theatre seats 666. Its programme covers a wide range of drama, comedy, music and dance. Spaces are reserved for wheelchair users and there is an induction loop for the hearing impaired.
