West Stow Country Park and Anglo-Saxon Village (Bury St Edmunds, United Kingdom)

West Stow Country Park comprises of 52 hectare of wood and heathland, the river Lark, a lake and an abundance of wildlife. The park offers 3 walking trails of various lengths, in between 1.5 and 3 kilometer, a car park, adventure playground, cafe, shop, visitor centre and several picnic areas. Further it is also home to the reconstruction of an Anglo-Saxon village. The village is based on archaeological excavations on the site which indicate that a settlement once stood here from around 420-650AD. All the buildings on the site are accessible for visitors and have been built with the use of the same tools the Anglo-Saxons had and are accessible for visitors.The interior of the houses has been furnished as they would have been during Anglo-Saxon times and display tools and items of daily use. During special events visitors can see demonstrations of the different crafts. A further part of the Anglo-Saxon village is a museum were original findings from the site are displayed.
