Pretoria City Hall (Pretoria, South Africa)

The Pretoria City hall is situated in the city centre of Pretoria, near the South African Museum of Science and Technology and the Transvaal Museum of Natural History. This building is the largest public hall in South Africa. It was built to celebrate the achievement of Pretoria’s city status in 1931. However, it was inaugurated only in 1935. The Pretoria City Hall was carried out in semi-Italian classical style and has 32 tower bells. The hall is finished with stone floors and a large stage with paintings. It can host up to 100 people. In front of Pretoria City Hall is situated a park, which includes fountains and three statues, devoted to significant people in Pretoria’s history. One of the statues represents the first president of the South African Republic and founder of Pretoria, Martinus Pretorius. The other two statues are Andries Pretorius and Chief Tshwane.
