Formula 1 Grand Prix (Monaco, Monaco)
The Grand Prix of Monaco is a Formula One race which runs through the Principality. The first race was held in 1929 with 16 competitors and the very first winner was a Bugatti 35B driven by Williams at an average speed of 80 kilometres an hour. The Monaco Grand Prix is considered as one of the most prestigious car races in the world. It’s in-town circuit makes it unique with tight corners, a long tunnel, elevation changes and a particularly narrow course, making over taking difficult. Originally known as a World Championship race, it was in 1948 that the Monaco Grand Prix was defined by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile as a Formula One race. The Brazilian pilot, Ayrton Senna still holds the record of the most victories on this track with six victories. The race is organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco who also run the Monte Carlo rally.
