Facilities & Amenities
The hotel offers several amenities that enhance the guest experience, most notably a popular indoor play area that is a significant draw for families, providing entertainment for children. Guests also frequently enjoy the expansive outdoor terrace, which boasts beautiful views and serves as a pleasant spot for dining or relaxation. For those with electric vehicles, the hotel provides EV charging points, though some guests reported issues with non-electric cars blocking access. The property features various function rooms that are well-suited for hosting parties and events, including weddings, and a dedicated bar area where guests can unwind. While some found the bar to be cold or have a damp smell, others appreciated its welcoming ambiance. Wi-Fi is available, though some guests noted it could be limited in certain areas.

Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Guest feedback on room comfort and cleanliness is varied, reflecting the ongoing refurbishment efforts. Many guests found their rooms to be clean and appreciated the comfortable beds, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Some rooms, particularly those recently updated, were described as spacious and modern, featuring good showers and provided toiletries. However, a notable number of reviews highlighted issues with the bathrooms, often described as small, cramped, or dated, with some mentioning mildew, noisy water pump systems, or unreliable hot water. The overall room decor was inconsistent, with some areas appearing shabby, unloved, or showing signs of wear like wallpaper hanging off or a damp smell. While some found the hotel quiet, others reported noise from parties, other guests, or even grounds maintenance, and some rooms lacked basic amenities like a wardrobe or a mirror.

Dining & Food Quality
The hotel's dining experience receives mixed but detailed feedback. Most guests highly praise the breakfast, describing it as excellent, freshly cooked, and served hot with a good choice of items. However, some found the breakfast to be merely "okay" or noted issues with specific items like sausages or cold takeaway options. The evening meal quality is more inconsistent; many guests rave about the delicious food, highlighting dishes such as scotch eggs, steak, fish and chips, venison, and curry, and appreciating the generous portions. Conversely, a significant number of reviews express disappointment with the evening meals, citing issues like undercooked potatoes, stale desserts, or poorly prepared steak. Some guests also experienced staggered food delivery for groups or found children's meals unappetizing. The bar also received mixed comments regarding drink availability and pricing.

Location & Accessibility
The hotel is situated in a tranquil and peaceful location, offering guests a quiet retreat away from main roads. Many reviews highlight the beautiful views and scenery from the property, particularly from the outdoor terrace. Its somewhat secluded position means a car is generally needed for convenience, though some guests found it easy to locate despite its tucked-away nature. The hotel's setting is considered ideal for accessing local attractions, including a nearby golf course and the coast. A significant advantage noted by numerous guests is the ample parking available on-site, which is described as good-sized and safe, accommodating various vehicle types, including bikes. This makes it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area.

Staff & Service
The staff and service at the hotel are overwhelmingly praised by guests, consistently described as friendly, helpful, attentive, and welcoming. Many reviewers highlighted the staff's willingness to go above and beyond to assist guests, contributing significantly to a positive experience. The check-in process generally received positive comments, though some guests noted initial confusion upon arrival due to a lack of a clear reception area or signage. While the overall service is highly regarded, there were isolated instances of dissatisfaction, such as perceived rudeness from a specific staff member or issues with food service during busy periods, including delayed or incomplete orders. Despite these few exceptions, the dedication of the team to providing excellent service is a recurring theme, making guests feel valued and well-cared for throughout their stay.

Additional Information
The hotel is currently undergoing renovations and refurbishment, which has resulted in a mixed appearance, with some areas looking modern and updated while others still appear dated, shabby, or unloved, with mentions of building materials in the car park. This ongoing work contributes to varied guest experiences regarding room quality and overall ambiance. The property is a popular venue for parties and weddings, utilizing its function rooms and offering buffet services. However, some guests reported noise from these events or from grounds maintenance activities, particularly on weekends. A common point of feedback is the lack of a clear reception area, leading to initial confusion for some guests upon arrival. Additionally, some rooms experienced issues with TV reception or had noisy water pump systems.
