Review summary

This AI-generated summary was based on reviews from multiple
sites

The hotel offers a truly palatial ambiance, making it a memorable destination for guests. Its signature feature is the seamless blend of historic grandeur with modern comfort, providing spacious, comfortable rooms and a prime central location that places guests at the heart of the city. The outstanding breakfast and attentive staff consistently receive high praise, contributing to an exceptional stay. This hotel is particularly well-suited for couples seeking a romantic getaway and sightseers eager to explore the city on foot, as well as luxury travelers who appreciate refined service and amenities. To enhance your experience, consider clarifying your preference for a room in the main building or the quieter Residence, and always leverage the knowledgeable staff for local recommendations.

Facilities & Amenities
Guests have access to a wellness center which includes a gym, sauna, and hot tub, providing options for relaxation and exercise. While some found the gym equipment to be a bit dated or the space small, and noted a fee for access, many appreciated having these facilities available. The hotel also offers reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected. Additionally, the beautiful courtyard and garden areas provide pleasant outdoor spaces for guests to unwind and enjoy the serene atmosphere, often serving as a tranquil retreat from the city's bustle.

Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Guests consistently praise the spacious rooms and overall cleanliness of the accommodations. The comfortable beds and high-quality linens ensure a restful night's sleep, while the large bathrooms, often featuring separate toilets and luxurious jacuzzi baths or soaking tubs, add to the comfort. Many rooms are equipped with modern conveniences like air conditioning, coffee makers, and fridges. However, some guests noted occasional noise from other rooms, outside, or due to thin walls. Minor maintenance concerns such as cracked tiles, dated decor, or thin towels were also mentioned, though initial issues like a musty smell or AC problems were typically resolved by the attentive staff.

Dining & Food Quality
The outstanding breakfast buffet is a highlight for most guests, described as extensive and delicious. It offers an impressive variety of hot and cold dishes, including fresh products, pastries, cheeses, and meats. Special touches like table service for coffee and tea, and even options like pancakes and wine, elevate the experience. The hotel's restaurant and bar are also well-regarded for their pleasant atmosphere and quality food. However, some guests noted that gluten-free options at breakfast were limited, and a few found the cocktail quality at the bar to be inconsistent.

Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts a prime central location, making it exceptionally walkable to all major attractions, shops, and restaurants within minutes. Despite its central position, it is situated on a quiet street, ensuring a peaceful stay away from the main hustle and bustle. Secure underground parking is available on-site, which is a significant convenience for those traveling by car. However, guests should be aware that parking can be expensive, and access might sometimes be challenging due to construction in the area or the lack of a direct elevator from the car park to all hotel sections.

Staff & Service
The friendly, helpful, and attentive staff are frequently commended for their significant contribution to a positive guest experience. Many guests highlighted the quick check-in process and the staff's willingness to accommodate requests and provide valuable local recommendations. However, feedback on staff interactions was occasionally mixed; some guests experienced instances of indifference or a perceived lack of personal warmth, particularly when dealing with specific service issues or the distinction between the main hotel and the Residence. A few isolated reports mentioned unhelpful responses or inappropriate behavior, though these were not representative of the overall positive sentiment.

Additional Information
Many guests stay in the Residence, a separate but affiliated building located just around the corner from the main hotel. This arrangement offers a quieter atmosphere and often features spacious rooms, while still providing full access to all of the main hotel's facilities, including check-in and breakfast. A notable benefit for many guests was receiving complimentary room upgrades. While the hotel maintains high standards, some minor points mentioned included the quality of the towels being thinner than expected and a rare report of an occasional septic smell in certain Residence rooms. The hotel also offers secure parking and a pet-friendly policy.
