sites

This hotel is widely celebrated for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional staff, making it a true gem in the heart of its town. Its signature feature is the consistent delivery of hearty, delicious food combined with a genuine, friendly service that makes guests feel like family. This makes it an ideal choice for a diverse range of travelers, including families seeking generous portions and a welcoming environment, couples looking for a cozy getaway, and business travelers needing a comfortable base. It also serves as an excellent hub for sightseers and groups exploring the surrounding Tipperary region. To enhance your stay, be aware that street parking is paid during the day, and while the hotel offers lively entertainment, guests sensitive to noise might consider requesting a room away from the main bar area.

Facilities & Amenities
While the hotel maintains a charming, traditional feel, it provides essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Guests will find tea and coffee making facilities in their rooms, along with bottled water, an ironing facility, a hairdryer, and a makeup mirror. Some rooms are equipped with a Smart TV, though channels may be limited. A notable point for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns is the absence of a lift or elevator, requiring guests to use stairs. The hotel also features a dedicated function room that hosts various events, contributing to its lively atmosphere.

Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Guests consistently praise the hotel's high standards of cleanliness, describing rooms as spotless, very clean, and fresh. The accommodations are generally found to be cozy, warm, and comfortable, with many highlighting the comfortable beds that ensure a restful night's sleep. While most find the bathroom to be clean and adequately sized, some have noted them as small or in need of minor updates, though hot water is consistently available. Noise levels receive mixed feedback; some rooms are quiet despite being near the main street, while others experience road noise in the morning or significant music noise from the bar during evening entertainment. Some guests also mentioned a lack of brighter lighting options and the need for blackout shades to block street lights.

Dining & Food Quality
The hotel's dining experience is a major highlight for many guests, with the food frequently described as excellent, delicious, and very good. The breakfast receives high praise for being freshly cooked, hot, and offering generous portions, with a full Irish breakfast being a popular choice, and the convenience of late weekend service until 11:30 AM. The restaurant and bar serve a wide range of Irish dishes, including popular carvery options, steak sandwiches, and Irish beef stew. While the majority of feedback is overwhelmingly positive, some guests have had mixed experiences, citing occasional inconsistencies in food quality or commercially produced desserts. The portions are consistently noted as ample, ensuring guests leave satisfied.

Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts an excellent central location right in the heart of the town, making it incredibly convenient for guests. It is situated on the main street, providing easy access to local amenities, including pubs, shops, and the Garda college. Guests appreciate its proximity to the beautiful Templemore Park for walks and its suitability as a base for exploring the wider Tipperary region. Parking is readily available directly outside the hotel, with free overnight options and a small fee during the day, which guests should be mindful of. While the central location is a significant advantage, the lack of an elevator can pose a challenge for guests managing heavy luggage.

Staff & Service
The staff at this hotel consistently receive overwhelming praise, being described as friendly, very helpful, welcoming, and attentive. Many guests highlight their exceptional professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond to assist, contributing significantly to a positive stay. The check-in and check-out processes are noted as quick and efficient, with a convenient 12 PM check-out time. Guests appreciate the staff's accommodating nature, whether it's providing local recommendations, assisting with specific dietary needs like a coeliac menu, or handling special requests. This dedication to excellent service is a recurring theme, making guests feel valued and well-cared for throughout their visit.

Additional Information
This hotel maintains a charming, old-fashioned style with classic furniture and traditional decor, offering a unique and homely ambiance that many guests appreciate. It is a popular venue for family gatherings and functions, including weddings, due to its accommodating staff and facilities. Guests frequently commend the hotel for retaining traditional services that have become less common in larger hotel chains, such as late breakfast service on weekends. While the hotel offers entertainment in the bar, guests should be aware that this can lead to noise, particularly for rooms located directly above the bar area. Some rooms may also lack a mini-fridge or sufficient lighting options beyond a single overhead light.
