Poseidonion Grand Hotel (Spetses, Greece)

The way guests describe it, it wasn't so much that the Possidonian was in the centre of town, as it created the centre of town around it. The hotel is right by the ferry port, and provides a grand introduction to the island for visitors arriving there. Aside from the simple convenience of being close to the amenities, it seems many guests liked being at the centre of attention.

Guests mentioned that it was not simply a case that the hotel was once grand, but has now faded. They describe a hotel that has remained very much relevant by intelligently renovating the property without losing any of its historical charm or cache.

Guests mentioned that, despite the hotel being so grand, the staff were not pretentious, at all. On the contrary, they were described as welcoming, and unfailingly friendly when approached for assistance.

One of the few consistent negative points to come up was that the pool was a bit on the small size. It was not that it was so small that guests couldn't swim in it, but rather that it was not big enough for the number of guests.

Though it seems the small issues in organisation brought up would have been dismissed elsewhere, the Possidonion is of course a luxury hotel with high standards to maintain. Several guest mentioned that service simply wasn't as smooth as is required in a true luxury hotel.

While hot drinks were available from room service, some guests would simply have liked the ability to make a quick drink for themselves with a minimum of fuss.
