Malvasia Traditional Hotel

At the end of the cobblestone high street that runs through the castle of Monemvasia, and about 300 metres from the castle’s only gate, is to be found the traditional Malvasia Hotel. Built in an enchanting location, it gazes towards the open horizon and the boundless sea. The view is magical. The hotel’s stunning terraces, with their views of the splendid azure of the sea and the majestic rock of Monemvasia, are perfect for endless hours of daydreaming. The traditional Malvasia Hotel, one of the castle’s first lodgings, has 15 rooms and apartments, all of which reflect the special atmosphere of the dwelling, rather than the impersonal feel of a hotel. The hotel also offers a living room, breakfast room, and a very popular bar with a spectacular sea view. The mansion, today featuring 5 apartments, is one of the oldest buildings within the castle of Monemvasia, and is known to have belonged to the town’s important Stellaki family as early as the 18th century. The mansion’s position is unique. It stands above the sea wall among the battlements, gazing out over the endless open sea. Its stone-built parapet balcony rests on the fortress walls and merges with the sea.
