Positive Reviews

Locale & Rooms

A very quaint building housing a real working convent Close to city centre attractions and two minutes' walk to the train station. Extremely cosy bedrooms with quality amenities provided More humble than an expensive hotel, but with a great deal more charm as well Nice fluffy towels, brilliant tea rooms, fresh carpeting, an exquisite chapel, cafe, museum & gift shop.

Delightful Breakfast

Do not miss the convent's daily breakfast Of an unmistakable premium standard, you'll enjoy the fresh and tasty hot and cold items while overlooking the perfectly maintained courtyard All eight items in their cooked Full English Don't miss vegetarian and gluten-free selections.

Charming Staff

All staff are a delight here, with notable mentions for their impeccable work and friendly, polite demeanor.

Negative Reviews

Lots of Noise

Large group accommodations attract large groups, some of them stag parties and such with the intention of partying all night There is no night reception staff on call for noise complaints and this locale is not extremely sound proof, so assume you will be kept awake if these groups are booked at the same time Noise from traffic can be minimized by requesting rooms facing the courtyard.

Do Note: Bathrooms Are Not En Suite

Although many are en suite, some bathrooms and showering facilities are shared with others on your floor Get perfect clarity on this before booking if that is an issue for you.

Renovations Underway

There is a lift, although slow enough to have two chairs in it Creaky floorboards and group bath areas are part of the currently targeted areas of restoration Have patience and check back after renovations are completed if these are concerns for you.

Poor Parking Provisions

There is no on-site parking but there is some within easy walking distance at Nunnery Lane.
