Positive Reviews

Luxurious dining room.

Guests can expect to feel part of the luxury when eating in the glamorous dining room. With intricate chandeliers and banquet tables, guests will feel transported back in time.

Budget accommodation, not a budget location.

The location of Safestay York is set in an historic building, with original features in the rooms. Nothing about the lodgings leads one to believe it to be as inexpensive as the room rates are.

Information in each room.

In each room, guests will find plaques on the wall depicting what that specific room was originally used for when the building was first inhabited. Whether the room was the master suite, or used as the slave quarters, these little tidbits of information add a sort of mystery to one’s stay.

Negative Reviews

Small bathrooms.

When the building was first converted into a hotel, bathrooms were added onto the private rooms. With these renovations underway, and the history of the building in mind, the space for bathrooms was kept to a minimum. Guests might feel the pinch, but best believe the bathrooms are adequate.

Strangers in the same room.

The dormitories have multiple beds in them, and unless one entire party books out the room, the possibility of having to share one’s space with a stranger is more than likely.

Nearby events catering.

With an events catering location nearby, that often has functions with loud music running until the early hours of the morning, guests who are light sleepers may find themselves awoken during the night. Unfortunately, as this venue has no affiliation with the hotel, the staff have no control over when the music shuts off.
