Positive Reviews

Friendly service and tasty breakfast.

Many reviewers paid tribute to the warm welcome they received. Staff were often described as very friendly, attentive, helpful and full of local knowledge. The breakfast was well worth getting up for, according to the majority of reviewers. The cooked full English option featuring local bacon and sausages went down well with plenty of diners as did the kippers and smoked haddock.

Comfy rooms in pleasant period building.

Guests mostly liked the rooms, saying they were well-furnished and featured comfortable beds. Cleanliness was reportedly of a good standard in the rooms and bathrooms. Many guests thought the Victorian house had been sympathetically converted into guest accommodation.

Convenient location.

The location suited most visitors just fine, although those on foot noted there was a lengthy uphill walk when returning from Lake Windermere. Convenience stores, eateries, cafes and pubs were reportedly easy to find nearby and in the center of Bowness-on-Windermere.

Negative Reviews

Rooms too small for some.

Guests occasionally referred to the bedrooms being small or cramped. There were also reports of some of the bathrooms being a bit of a tight squeeze.

Critics disliked old-fashioned feel.

While many guests liked the traditional ambience and feel of the property, there were others who called it old-fashioned. The furnishings and décor weren’t to everybody’s liking with some critics calling the guest house a bit dated or tired-looking in places.

Occasional parking headaches.

This guest house’s limited free parking posed problems during busy periods for some motorists who had to look further afield for public spaces, which were often hard to come by.
