About Wykeham Arms

With many of its original features intact, the Wykeham Arms has had a pub on this site since 1755. It sits in a quiet part of Winchester and yet is within walking distance to the centre of town.

Rooms include flat screen TV, ensuite bathroom, refrigerator, iron, bathrobes and hair dryer. The luxury double suite has a separate living room with access to a colourful “secret” garden. Free Wi-Fi features in all rooms.

A secluded function room will accommodate 25 sitting and 40 standing guests. Self-parking is available and the hotel is pet-friendly.

Following a full and impressive breakfast, Fuller’s Kitchen, at the Wykeham Arms, serves varied lunch and dinner menus, along with an equally irresistible wine list. The friendly bar is also home to five ’on tap’ ales.

The historic Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College, Great Hall and Wolvesey Castle are nearby.

The Hotel Wykeham Arms gets a big plus for atmosphere With log fires, a winding staircase and quintessential British décor, visitors to this hotel and pub praise the ambience Both the hotel and surrounding area are rich with history This hotel provides a great starting point for walking tours.

Accommodations are expansive

Rooms are spacious with traditional furnishings and plenty of charm The bathrooms are especially luxurious with separate shower and tub Some rooms include four-poster beds.

Tantalizing food and drink

The food and drink at this hotel are a big draw for many visitors In fact, the hotel hosts beer festivals and theme nights The ale is superb, the wine list extensive The kitchen uses fresh, local produce and other ingredients to create mouth-watering entrées and rich desserts.

Negative Reviews

Rooms not always what was expected

Some of the rooms are in the Hotel Wykeham Arms are in an annex across from the inn This might be disappointing for guests expecting to stay inside the inn Rooms are accessed by a stairway, which may be difficult for elderly or handicapped visitors.

Food not always equal to drinks

Not everyone loves the food here and some feel it is overpriced Occasional complaints have arisen that servings are not always as hot as they might be The selection of meals is a bit limited, although there is plenty of choice on the drink menu.

Expect characteristics of an older building

The hotel is located in a 1755 building and while it has all the modern conveniences, it still has quirks typical of an older building Both the rooms and pub can have a draft and the creaky floors make it easy to hear the other guests passing by.
