Positive Reviews

Warm Atmosphere

The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming, the bartender was friendly, two of the locals and their dogs were very interesting to chat with.

Well Cooked and Fresh

Guest commented on well cooked, freshly prepared food that was perfect for a chilly evening, with good puddings too The service is friendly, with plenty of room, and prices are fair.

Service with a Smile

The service was friendly even though the waitress was rushing around all the time she kept checking that everything was okay. The same evening they were hosting a very large party but it didn't impact on the service received so well done to all staff! The breakfast was tasty and freshly cooked. Guests were impressed at the quality of food being served: 'I doubt that you would get better in a reasonably expensive restaurant '.

Negative Reviews

Menu Limitation

Comments are made on a limited menu with hardly any choice. Visitors who ordered a ham ciabatta were not impressed by just '2 lumps of ham in a piece of bread '.

Accommodation Basic

Staying overnight this is a basic rural pub not a 5 star hotel standard. The room was described as poky and small, with a broken shower door. More seriously the staff just watched and didn't even offer to help as guests struggled to carry their bags upstairs, having run over 30 miles that day.

Late Karaoke

On a Saturday night Karaoke was on and guests were told it would only be on until 11pm, but it went on until after midnight, not making for a good rest. Wanting to start early on Sunday morning to finish their coast to coast they were told by the barmaid that we could have breakfast at 7 15am. Coming down at 7 15am and there was no one up and they had to leave without breakfast.
