Masseria Rottacapozza is a typical rural building dating back to the sixteenth century, when the territory, fief of Gemini, belonged to Minto Antonio Bishop of Ugento, as reflected in the report of the feud dell'apprezzo Ugento reported in Tavolario Luca Vecchione in the year 1767. The bishop wanted to create a residence that had optimal characteristics for the sighting and defense from enemy attacks that usually came from the sea. The farm remained the property of the Episcopal Diocese of Ugento until 1808, when, with the revolutionary laws on feudalism, the farm and its territory were removed and the bishop went into properties to various buyers and settlers. Form the Cadastre of 1745 also follows the name of the farm that was "GROTTA CAPOZZA", over time then deformed Rottacapozza.
