Shree Vilas Orchid-By Lake Pichhola offers travellers to Udaipur a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle at its site on the banks of Lake Pichola. The hotel features exceptional views of the Sajjan Garh palace on the hilltop.

Guests are accommodated within 20 unique canvas-roofed cabins. However, this is far from being a campsite. Each one is air-conditioned with a seating areas, featuring a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a minibar.

Relaxing views of the lake can be enjoyed from the luscious green lawns and large infinity swimming pool. Shree Vilas Orchid-By Lake Pichhola also offers a spa and wellness centre.

The lake-side restaurant serves traditional Rajasthani and north Indian cuisine. There are a few other places to dine out by the waterfront within a couple of minutes walk, including the sublime Dining Room in the famous Leela Palace Hotel.

The Jagdish Temple and City Palace of Udaipur can be reached on foot within a 15-minute stroll. The Sajjan Garh palace is under eight kilometres away.

Peaceful lakeside setting

Guests love the beautiful and quiet location of this lakeside hotel, in stark contrast to the noisy centre of Udaipur. Surrounded by greenery, with beautiful lawns, it is described as having a serene and romantic feel.

Well-maintained property

The property appears to be kept in very good condition. Guests claim that the gardens are impeccably looked-after and the lovely swimming pool is kept immaculately clean.

Helpful staff

Staff are mainly seen as being courteous and eager to help, being both efficient and co-operative. The manager of the resort also appears to be personable and friendly.

Negative Reviews

Access can be tricky

Getting to the hotel is far from being simple, according to the guests. Cars have to be parked a few hundred metres off-site as they can not get through the narrow passageways.

Insulation problems

The tented-roofs may be a bit different to a usual hotel room, but guests warn that they do little to protect from the elements. They can go from being very hot in the strong sunlight to cold when night falls. Not only can fresh air get in, but so can creepy crawlies and exterior noises too.

Poor quality Wi-Fi

Guests warn that accessing the Internet can be tricky from the accommodation. There is little or no Wi-Fi within the units themselves with connection only usually possible in the separate lobby area.
