Positive Reviews

Well Placed

The location of Tudor House is very much appreciated by the guests, being central in this Gloucestershire town. The hotel has a great deal of character, and several guests mentioned that the staff were helpful and attentive, going the extra mile without having to be asked.

Value Break

The guest room was spacious, clean and comfortable. A budget break here was good value.

The breakfast was well liked, being of good quality and varied, and the evening food was excellent. Guests found the town and the Abbey attractive, and enjoyed the walks near the river and canal behind the hotel.

Negative Reviews

Cleaning Required

A guest found that the room they stayed in was “tired”. In one of the bathrooms that basin drainpipe was blocked. A cracked window pane and flaking plaster did not give the room a good appearance, there were also cobwebs, grime and dust in evidence on the landing.

Mealtime Blues

There was a poor choice of cereals and dishes at breakfast, in particular for guests with dietary requirements. The breakfast room is cramped, being small for the number of guests, and needed dusting. Amongst a group who stayed there were some who found the dinner a little disappointing. It seems that the hotel could do with more staff.

Maintenance Required

Guests were disturbed by a ventilation fan that started up in the early hours of the morning. The hotel appears a little worn around the edges The hair-dryer was not working, the hot tap in the bathroom was wobbly, and the bath plug lacked a chain. A radiator and heated towel rail were not working. In the annex rooms there was no Wi-Fi or telephone. It was felt that the prices are fairly high in comparison with the competition.
