Positive Reviews

Superb house and grounds.

This family run (third generation) bed and breakfast stands in its own grounds and gives an authentic taste of high end country living, which is thoroughly enjoyable. The beautifully-maintained house also has many delightful authentic period features.

Great hosts.

Alan and Jane have been described as wonderful, attentive and welcoming hosts who spare no effort to ensure the enjoyment and comfort of their guests. They also have an extensive knowledge of local lore and history which is very helpful to guests who are

Great breakfast.

The full English breakfast here has been described as superlative. One guest said it was the healthiest fried breakfast ever, without a trace of greasiness and cooked to perfection. Another remarked that it deserved a five star rating.

Negative Reviews

Very remote location.

As the location of the house is quite remote, public transport in the area is quite limited. So unless the guests have a car, it is not easy to reach this guest house, nor to explore the countryside comfortably.

Limited storage space.

Although the rooms are described as comfortable, it has been noticed that storage space for guests’ belongings is rather limited. That probably depends on how much luggage the guest has and varies from person to person.

No reading light in the room.

There are no reading lights in the rooms - not a problem unless you’re an avid reader who doesn’t have an e-reader with a backlight, but it has been mentioned.
