Positive Reviews

Good location near amenities

Previous guests have found the location of Oakfield Lodge convenient, often mentioning the proximity of the train station and local amenities. Guests who want to explore can visit a national park as easily as they can a major city like Manchester.

Decent breakfast & local dining

There are one or two quibbles about the breakfast here, mainly to do with the delay between ordering and the meal arriving. On the plus side, guests generally find the food is well cooked and there is a sufficient choice of items available.

Northern charm

On the whole, guests enjoy the hospitality here, with more than one using the phrase “Northern charm”. There doesn't appear to be any airs and graces here but guests tend to find the host welcoming and friendly.

Negative Reviews

Disappointing bathroom facilities

Perhaps the most significant disappointment here is the bathroom situation. Not all rooms are en-suite and guests are often disappointed by having to share a bathroom with strangers. Also, those guests who did have an en-suite found them on the small side.

Property is quite dated

Although guests tend to find Oakfield Lodge clean and reasonably comfortable, several mention that they thought the B&B was a little dated. Some updates probably wouldn't go amiss.

Seems disorganised at times

A number of reviews suggest that although the host is welcoming and friendly, the running of the B&B could be a little smoother. More than one review describes how guests have come across the host lost in a mass of paperwork and others mention booking errors.
