Positive Reviews

Good location

The Unicorn places you in the heart of the charming market town of Skipton You’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants within steps of the hotel and attractions such as Skipton Castle just minutes away Plus, it’s a great base if you want to explore Yorkshire.

Newly refurbished

The hotel bedrooms have been recently redecorated and reviews indicate that the work has been completed to a high standard Earlier comments often described the hotel as dated, but more recent reviews are highly complimentary of the décor.

Spacious rooms and comfy beds

There’s plenty of comments about how comfortable the beds are, so if you’re hoping for a good night’s sleep, there’s a good chance you’ll find it here Guests also tend to be pleased with the size of the rooms on offer.

Negative Reviews

Limited parking facilities

Free parking spaces outside the hotel are limited, so you may find yourself having to find a spot in the car park opposite A small overnight fee is charged for this, but you’ll have to move your car by 10am if you don’t want to pay the more expensive hourly rates during the day.

Occasional odd smell from neighbouring properties

The Unicorn is so central that it’s sandwiched between a few shops and restaurants Some of the bedrooms must be above these establishments as a few guests comment about strange smells from nail salons and Indian restaurants permeating their room.

Staff don’t seem to wear uniform

While not a huge issue, more than a few guests comment that they feel the staff would look more professional if they wore uniform or at the very least ditched the shorts at breakfast time in favour of long trousers It’s a minor concern which shouldn't really bother you too much.
