About Hotel Alkyon

The Hotel Alkyon Hotel is a five minute walk from the centre of Skiathos and its picturesque harbour.

Comfortably furnished en-suite rooms feature air conditioning, mini-refrigerator, flat-screen TV, CD/stereo unit and a balcony with views to the sea or the countryside.

There is a pool for guests’ enjoyment. Reception is manned at all times. Safe and laundry facilities are available. Wi-Fi is in the reception area.

A buffet breakfast is offered in the roof garden where there is the added bonus of stunning morning views over the surrounding area. The restaurant specialises in traditional Greek specialities. The popular Limanaki Restaurant is opposite the hotel and is open day and night.

In metres, the Hotel Alkyon Hotel is 50 from the bus and railway stations, 150 from the town centre and 1500 from the main beach. A visit to the Skiathos Dog Sanctuary is a ‘must’ for visiting pet and animal lovers.

Sea' the difference!

Rooms with sea views are somewhat more expensive, but they are of better quality and - of course - come with that desired sea view. Worth the extra if the budget will allow.

High - and low - flyers!

You are in the middle of the town, so shops, bars and restaurants are within strollable distance. In the old town, try Anderson's Bar and the Primavera Italian restaurant. Fantastic! The Amaretto Café is near to the hotel and you can almost touch the aeroplanes as the come in to land or take off. Really impressive.

Good value accommodation and friendly staff.

Yes, rooms are not the bees' knees when it comes to comfort and they could benefit from some TLC. But, from a value angle, they are great. Very clean. Staff members too are impressive and friendly, particularly those who come round to clean the rooms. The air conditioning seems to be new and very effective.

There is a rotten smell … down below

Finish up in the basement and the room stinks of damp and decay. Can't be far from the main sewer! Furnishings are equally uninspiring and the experience is distinctly unpleasant.

In at the deep end.

The pool is OK but the surrounding area is very cramped. You'll probably get in to the pool but take a nose-dive when looking for somewhere to relax afterwards.

There are drainage issues.

At some times, the bath can't be used (*due to water shortages) and when you use the shower, the water doesn't drain away. There are plumbing and drainage issues here.
