Positive Reviews

Charming Hotel, Beautiful Gardens

This is a quaint nineteenth century house within the Scottish Borders featuring a lovely staircase and landing area and very well-kept gardens. Within good proximity to the A7 while tucked away from the bustle in the serene country greenery of a small town, you'll enjoy hearty meals starting with the made to order breakfast and fresh fish and chips, haggis and steaks as well as other traditional and continental options throughout later meals.

Clean, Decent Rooms

Spacious and cosy rooms provide well-supplied tea/coffee making provisions, large beds, perfect pillows, beautiful views and walk-in showers( in some.) You'll get a great night's sleep here.

Stellar Staff

The hosts are friendly and charming and go out of their way on a regular basis, arranging rides, setting up meals outside of normal times when necessary, providing special requests on dietary provisions including vegan, gluten-free and more. They provide a relaxed, casual atmosphere for optimal relaxation.

Negative Reviews

A Few Foibles

Minor glitches in the rooms do exist on occasion, but most overlook them easily. A few examples are the hot water taking a long time to heat up, furniture needing a bit of an upgrade or repair in some units, smallish sinks, insufficient clothes hangers, and damp bathroom carpeting.

Dim Lighting

Some areas are a bit too dimly lit and some found it difficult to read at night. Bring a reading light.

Weak Wi-Fi

Some rooms appear to get better Wi-Fi than others. Ask about this at booking if it's essential to your stay.
