Positive Reviews

Historic Building

Once the Lackawana Railroad passenger station, the hotel is on U.S. National Register of Historic Places and guests were charmed by the elegant lobby with its colorful glass ceilings and marble mosaics. The old world atmosphere extends to Carmen's, the hotel's on-site restaurant, and guests enjoyed the decor also as much as the award winning food. The hotel also houses Trax Platform Lounge and Station Café, both a hit with guests.

Good Location

Minutes from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and convenient to downtown Scranton's shops and restaurants, the hotel was in an excellent location for both business and leisure travelers.

Knowlegeable Staff

Negative Reviews

Less Than Impressive

While most guests were charmed by this historic building, some commented that the rooms were a bit shabby with old carpeting, worn furniture and uncomfortable beds. Complaints about poor bathroom plumbing and chipped and damaged bath tubs and toilets were also reported. Some guests felt that the rooms should have included amenities such as refrigerators and microwaves.

Cleaning Details

Not all guests were happy with the housekeeping at this hotel; some complained that rooms weren't adequately cleaned, beds were still unmade late in the day and furniture and carpets were stained.

Sleepless In Scranton

A number of guests hoping for a restful night were disappointed by their experience at this hotel. Guests with rooms over the hotel bar were kept awake by the sounds of revelry, others reported people knocking on their doors, fire alarms, sirens and traffic noise. Several guests commented that better insulation is needed to reduce sounds from adjacent rooms.
