About The Hope Anchor Hotel

The The Hope Anchor Hotel Hotel is a family owned hotel of character where the emphasis is on service to the guests. It is located in the heart of this delightful town, and has views over the surrounding areas including Romney Marsh and the sea.

In addition to the 13 en-suite bedrooms there are also two separate apartments and a fisherman's cottage. Rooms have flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and direct dial telephone. The bath/shower room is provided with a hair dryer, slippers and toiletries.

The The Hope Anchor Hotel Hotel building dates back to 17th Century and the family owners have been providing a friendly and personal level of attention to their guests for over 30 years. The hotel is non-smoking throughout.

The hotel restaurant serves lunches and dinners with special emphasis on the use of fresh local produce, and naturally the seafood is particularly delicious.

Splendid Location and Views.

The location appeals greatly to guests staying here: the hotel is at the highest point in the town, and offers splendid views. Parking in the centre can be a problem at busy times, but the staff help with the provision of parking permits, so the problem i

Excellent Staff.

The level of friendly and efficient service was commented on by guests, and the cleanliness of the rooms and hotel in general is very good. The rooms are comfortable and full of character, not at all the standardised hotel rooms of the large chain organis

Cuisine and Character.

The standard of cuisine is high, breakfast being found to be good, with plenty of choice. There is a small bar here of great character. Guests who stayed in the room with its own garden overlooking Camber Castle were particularly enchanted with their stay

Negative Reviews

Infrastructure Woes.

A guest found that the Wi-Fi in their room was not very good, and another noted a slight leak from the WC. One was disappointed to find in the bathroom an extractor fan patched with cardboard and tape, many of the floor tiles cracked, and a tiny shower cu

Exception to Usual.

The hotel seemed to offer good value, however against the general run of opinions reported by guests one visitor found the staff to be rude and abrupt, notably when saying that there was no room available in the restaurant for dinner.

A Kipper Deprived.

A guest who hoped to enjoy a kipper for breakfast was disappointed that the hotel had run out of vinegar!
