Positive Reviews

Staff make you feel very welcome

Staff are quite personable, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They're always ready with a smile and a greeting, and promptly attentive to your requests. Every guest, no matter the age, and including canine companions, are treated like beloved friends.

Lovely atmosphere in and out of the inn

Moortown Lodge gives off a peaceful and comfy feeling from walking the grounds to every part of the inside. It's a charming place to take a holiday, and not far from walking into town and absorbing the local culture. The rooms are spotless, and the furniture is cosy.

Little room touches are a nice bonus

You're sure to appreciate the little things that make staying here extra special. Chocolates and biscuits in the rooms, maps and personal tips for exploring the area, and even the fluffiness of the towels and robes go towards the appeal for future returns.

Negative Reviews

Wish there was more than breakfast onsite

The breakfast is hearty, tasty, and fresh, so much so that the disappointment is that it's the only meal served here! Although there are several restaurants nearby, many guests wish they could just remain onsite for everything.

Not really a boutique hotel as expected

Marketing that suggests “boutique hotel” is misleading, because it doesn't fit that particular impression. The place is a quaint B&B that although pleasant, doesn't stand out above the rest, or offer anything that makes it niche lodging.

Keep road noise and dogs in mind

It's important to remember that the hotel accommodates dogs, so if you're allergic or don't like them, you will nevertheless encounter them, as well as odours and hair left behind. Traffic off of the front end rooms can be a bit noisy, so request back rooms, if sensitive.
