Positive Reviews

Welcoming, attentive staff

Most guests find the staff welcoming and friendly, noting that they go out of their way to address guests by name and share knowledge on the history of the area. A number of guests comment that the hotel owner recommends local activities and provides travel tips. Many appreciate that the guest house is privately owned and offers a high level of personal attention.

Location

Several guest love the property's proximity to the ferry and railway, as well as variety of activities - including local bike tours - and easy access to the surrounding islands.  Most enjoy the quiet, residential setting and say the lack of through-traffic and noisy businesses makes the B&B a restful place to stay.

Great value for the money

A number of guests feel that the hotel is an exceptional value for the money, citing the quality linens and attractive decor, convenient amenities, and clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. Most guests agree that breakfast is generous and delicious.

Negative Reviews

Small rooms

A handful of guests say that the rooms are small, but manageable. Most find the rooms to be comparable in size to those of any other bed and breakfast.

Physically challenging

Some guests note that the small hotel rooms and limited on-site parking are challenging for disabled guests, and recommend calling prior to arrival to arrange for special accommodations. Since the bed and breakfast sits uphill from the town centre, it can be a difficult walk for guests who are not physically fit. Guests suggest using taxi service if walking is not a good option.

Difficult parking

Some guests say parking is tight when the hotel is full, but are quick to point out that public parking is nearby.
