Positive Reviews

Made to feel welcome.

From the very beginning of one's trip, guests are made to feel welcome. This includes warm and friendly smiles and greetings from all staff members, to the large log fire in the bar area.

Best wine list.

For a pub, one wouldn't necessarily expect a great wine list, but here at The Wheatsheaf Inn, guests will find quite an extensive selection, with some rather delicious wines available. A very tasty menu, with some very interesting specials, of course, accompanies these.

Perfectly located for Sunday walks.

The surrounding countryside offers a great number of paths for walking enthusiasts to see and do. A common and popular excursion is the 10 mile Sunday walk, which begins just around the corner from The Wheatsheaf Inn.

Negative Reviews

Slow service.

In the restaurant, when the rush hour hits, and the tables are all filled, and guests are all ordering from the waiters, the staff appear to slow their service down. Unfortunately for guests, this comes across as poor service, when in fact the restaurant is just busy, and orders tend to take longer when there is more than one order going through.

Not a fine dining experience.

For those expecting a fine dining experience in a pub will be sorely disappointed. Unfortunately, The Wheatsheaf Inn is a typical English pub, that offers better than normal pub fare, and some fine wines and cask ales as accompaniments.

Extractor fan noise.

There are a few rooms that are quite close to the extractor fan attached to the kitchen, and this causes a problem for those whishing for an undisturbed nights sleep. Those needing the peace and quiet of the countryside to fall asleep are recommended to request rooms away from the kitchen.
