Comfort, Quality & Value

Most guests at the Corner House described their accommodations as clean and comfortable. Some of those who had stayed before noted that the rooms had been newly refurbished and guests generally felt that the hotel offered good value for their money.

Happy To Be Of Service

Returning guests enjoyed being greeted by name while those visiting for the first time found the staff friendly and efficient. The congenial service in the restaurant and bar was also appreciated and a number of guests said the willingness of the staff to go the extra mile  during their stay greatly added to overall satisfaction.

Steak & Ale Pie & A Few Pints

The hot English breakfast served to order with items such as black pudding, beans and mushrooms was well-received and there were compliments for the dinner and lunch menus featuring items such as beer battered haddock, steak and ale pie and a variety of curries. Most guests agreed that the food was excellent and well presented and they also gave a thumbs up to the local Black Sheep Ale served in the hotel's popular tavern.

Negative Reviews

Bathroom Blahs

Rooms at the hotel have either a bath or shower and some guests found this arrangement inconvenient, others complained of insufficient hot water.

A Bit Chilly

The radiators were not adequate  for some guests who complained that their rooms were on the chilly side.

Traffic Noise

While most guests had no trouble sleeping, a few were disturbed by traffic noise from the street below.
