Positive Reviews

You'll be nicely looked after

The staff at Borough Arms are very friendly and helpful They'll sort out any issues or queries you have quickly and efficiently They'll also give you lots of advice on the local area and are on hand 24 hours a day.

It's in a handy spot

The hotel is within convenient walking distance of the centre of Newcastle-Under-Lyme and nicely positioned for a host of shops, pubs and restaurants You'll find plenty to do in the area.

There's an interesting past

The building has a fascinating backstory in that it started life as a pottery and then became a brewery The hotel retains many period features and you'll get a real sense of history staying here.

Negative Reviews

Plenty will keep you awake

The noise from the road outside can be fairly intrusive Also, the thin walls are a problem You'll be able to hear conversations from the room next door On top of this, there are more than a few creaky floorboards Sometimes there are wedding receptions and events which go on until late as well.

The décor is a little dated

Borough Arms could do with something of a revamp The carpets are a touch shabby and some of the furniture is quite worn.

Washing is a chore

In keeping with the tired feel of the hotel, the bathrooms seriously need some work to bring them up to date The showers aren't great and the water pressure is really poor unless you want to only use cold water.

A hard night's sleep

Some of the mattresses are past their best Several are on the tough side, while others are a little lumpy.
