Set in thirty five acres of parkland, the fifteenth century Carberry Tower Castle is 8 miles from Edinburgh.  Here, guests enjoy a traditional style of bed and breakfast accommodation.

Individually designed and elegant rooms include attractive furnishings, Egyptian cotton linen and impressive views over the surrounding countryside.  En-suite areas are spacious and include top of the range complimentary toiletries.

Excellent dining.

Dinner here is superb in quality and quantity and served to perfection. It’s a very popular feature though, so needs booking in advance, even if you are staying here! It’s easy to miss out and find the restaurant fully booked. All is not lost though. ‘Do

Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Reception staff are friendly, helpful and get you off on the right foot. All staff, though, follow this trend and it is the staff who contribute greatly to a happy stay.

A nice wee dram.

Pop into the Whiskey Bar before dinner. Well stocked, friendly and with touches local to the area, it’s well worth a visit.

Negative Reviews

Size matters, when it’s too small.

Part of the problem is that the restaurant is small, so it only needs to be moderately popular to be full to capacity. It is certainly something of a turn off for paying guests to find that they are denied food and that the nearest alternative is about a

Breakfast blips.

Queuing up at a motorway service station, you expect to grab a cooked breakfast from the heated display unit. You don’t expect the same quality in a place like this where everything is supposedly cooked to order.

Ancient and modern.

The mixing of old and new is sometimes a bit like combining oil with water. It doesn’t work and here, the rooms are prime examples of how, with the ancient, introduction of modern aspects can stand out like a sore thumb.
