Positive Reviews

Excellent breakfast

There must be something special happening in the Irish countryside, because guests couldn't stop raving about the breakfast. Moira tries to use local ingredients whenever possible, and guests say that the result is very tasty. Also mentioned was that the hosts are quite prepared to accommodate dietary allergies and preferences if given reasonable forewarning.

Friendly and helpful staff

While the hosts were said to lead from the front, by being very welcoming and hands-on, the staff were also commended to for being friendly and helpful, always willing to help their guests with their query or issue.

Some rooms very spacious

Though potential guests need to be careful not to assume every room is large, a fair number of guests did say that their particular room was exceptionally spacious, with more than enough room for the size of their party.

Negative Reviews

Some problems with noise

Unfortunately the guest house is on the main village road. As a result, there can be some noise from passing cars, both day and night. At night some have also mentioned the odd disturbance created by revellers outside. Bringing earplugs may be a good idea.

Very narrow entrance to the parking

Moira Guest house is a restored Georgian property, with parking in the central courtyard. The entrance was naturally designed for horse and carts, not horsepower and 4x4s. It is described as incredibly narrow, and even drivers of smaller cars need to exercise great caution when passing through.

Creaking stairs

While for some it added to the atmosphere, others were not so happy with the stairs. They were said to be terribly creaky, so that those trying to creep away unnoticed had their plans dashed by the creaking stairs revealing their movements to all within earshot
