About Bacchus

Bacchus is a family-run guest house offering an enviable vantage point over the quaint Cornish fishing harbour of Mevagissey from its hilltop location.

The en-suite bedrooms are separate from the residential area and contain either twin beds or a super-king-size bed. Each comes with a 32-inch flat-screen television and tea and coffee making facilities.

Bacchus offers free on-site parking and a shared kitchen and patio with chairs overlooking the harbour.

The communal kitchen includes a table and chairs, microwaves, refrigerators, kettles and toasters. There are several pubs and eateries around the harbour area, about a ten-minute walk way, including the delightful Salamander restaurant, serving freshly caught seafood.

A museum dedicated to model railways can also be found under 750 metres away from the hotel. There are several high-profile attractions within easy reach too, such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, four kilometres away, and the Eden Project, around a 25-minute drive away.

Positive Reviews

Beautiful location overlooking the harbour

It seems the most attractive feature of this guesthouse is its incredible hilltop placement and its delightful views over the typically Cornish harbour of Mevagissey. Guests love soaking up the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere whilst sitting out on the delightful patio and taking in the view. The town centre, with its collection of cosy pubs and restaurants, is within walking distance of the hotel too, whilst the accommodation is nicely situated for visiting sights such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project.

Great value accommodation with superb kitchen

The guest house is found to be spotlessly clean and modern, with very comfortable beds. The lack of breakfast is more than compensated by the provision of a bright and superbly well-equipped kitchen with a nice-size table to eat around. Guests note they are provided all the facilities on hand they need to prepare or warm up their own breakfast or other meals.

Very welcoming hosts

The guesthouse is a family-run affair, giving the place an extra special and pleasant atmosphere. Guests are impressed by the warm welcome they receive by the hosts, who come across as being extremely pleasant and chatty.

Negative Reviews

Steep climb

Reviews reveal that one of the drawbacks of being located in such a scenic spot is having to scale such a steep hill to get back to the guesthouse. Whilst this is little more than a small dose of exercise to get most travellers’ heart beating, guests point out that it may be a bit much for those with mobility problems.
