Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel & Spa is a luxury, 3-star hotel and spa, nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons in Merthyr Tydfil.

There are a range of rooms available as either standard, superior or suites. Each of the 32 rooms benefits from en-suite facilities, is tastefully decorated in a modern, country style, and includes TV with DVD collection and other basic amenities. Pet-friendly rooms are also available.

There is a spa within the hotel, which hotel residents have free use of. This includes a swimming pool, hydro-spa and sauna and steam room, as well as fully-equipped gym. There are also a range of wedding packages available.

Positive Reviews

Friendly staff and excellent waiting service.

A number of guests comment on the excellent customer service, particularly found in the restaurant and bar. Some comments do indicate that the restaurant comes under strain at certain peak times, but the majority of reviews describe hotel and spa staff as friendly and welcoming.

Amazing food.

The food served in the restaurant and bar is the subject of a great deal of praise, with a number of guests describing food as amazing. Dinner seems to be particularly good, with a number of guests recommending the restaurant in itself separate to the hotel.

Comfortable rooms in a beautiful location.

The general consensus seems to be that rooms are comfortable and fairly well maintained. Guests comment on the beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel, and add that the wider area has many beautiful sights and walking trails.

Negative Reviews

Spa facilities struggling.

The spa facilities seem to be struggling, with the majority of reviews complaining of the jacuzzi, and sometimes swimming pool being out of order. Reviews regarding spa treatments are decidedly mixed, but there seems to be a general feeling of a poorly managed spa.

In need of an update.

Guests comment that the hotel in general is in need of an update. A number of guests comment that the hotel and its interior decoration is showing its age, with stained carpets, tired paintwork and rusty fixtures and fittings.

Poor shower pressure.

A couple of guests complain about the en-suite bathrooms in general. Shower pressure seems to be very low, and some rooms reportedly don’t have showers at all. Guests also comment on stained bath tubs and mouldy grouting.
