About The Tommyfield

The Tommyfield is a pub and guest house in Kennington. Named after a local 19th Century market, it is just 15-minutes from Victoria Station.

All rooms at The Tommyfield are en-suite with a rain shower, and some have luxury roll-top baths. All rooms include a super-king or king-sized bed, Egyptian cotton linen, an HD Freeview television, a Nespresso machine, black-out curtains, and a refrigerated mini-bar.

Wi-Fi is free, and there is a no-smoking policy in place. Guests have access to a safe.

The traditional pub downstairs serves breakfast on weekends. Lunch and evening meals are served daily too, using fresh and locally-sourced ingredients where available. Live comedy shows are performed on Thursday evenings.

The London Eye beside the River Thames is around a 30-minute walk away, while the Houses of Parliament are a similar distance. Heathrow Airport is 45-minutes away by train, and Gatwick Airport is a 50-minute train journey.

Positive Reviews

Contemporary décor is well received

This hotel is housed in a Victorian building, and guests say that the owners have done a great job in renovating it to create a modern hotel environment. From the exposed brickwork through to the luxury fixtures and fittings, guests really do enjoy a comfortable stay.

Tasty food

The lunches and evening meals served in the pub downstairs get a thumbs up from guests. They enjoy the variety of freshly-cooked meals available on the menu, as well as the discount that is offered to guests who choose to eat in the pub.

Great location in a different part of London

It is fair to say that Kennington might not be top of the list of places to stay for most visitors to London, but there is a lot to recommend it as guests have found. Kennington is 50 minutes or less from both Heathrow and Gatwick airports, while Oxford Street can be reached in around 20 minutes on the Tube.

Negative Reviews

No breakfast except on weekends

The breakfast served at this hotel is said to be really tasty, but the big downside is that it is served only on Saturday and Sunday. On the other days of the week, a porridge pot is left in the fridges in rooms. Many guests would prefer to have a cooked breakfast every day of the week.

Some rooms on the small side

There are some guests who have complained about the size of their rooms, with some saying that they have not even had enough space to put their luggage to one side.

No lift

This old building does not have a lift, meaning you will have to carry your luggage up several narrow flights of stairs. If you have mobility problems, you may well struggle to do this.
