About Queens Head

Queens Head is a historic country inn dating from the 1700s. It overlooks beautiful English countryside that is said to have inspired Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows books.

Queens Head offers two double rooms each featuring modern décor and an en-suite bathroom; a television, tea/coffee making facilities and homemade biscuits are also included. Alternatively, the family suite offers a double bed and two singles plus a separate lounge.

Weddings and other events are welcome here and free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the property. Complimentary on-site parking is also provided.

A hearty Yorkshire breakfast is offered featuring local produce. In addition, the pub serves traditional British dishes throughout the day alongside a selection of alcoholic and soft beverages.

Just five miles away on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the peaceful Jervaulx Abbey and Tearoom. For cafes, eateries and quaint shops, the lovely market town Richmond can be reached in 20 minutes by car.

Positive Reviews

Good value for money rooms in the countryside.

Queens Head is a quaint little village pub with some rooms upstairs which are available at a very reasonable rate. This is no luxury hotel but it is a fine place to rest up for the night and won't cost you a bomb.

Excellent meals served in the pub downstairs.

The food here is awesome, hearty meals with regional favourites like black pudding on the menu. There is plenty of choice so you won't get bored even if you stay for a few days.

Hospitable and happy staff offer a warm welcome.

Receive a warm welcome when you arrive here, and expect the staff to be chatty and friendly. If you run into any problems while staying here they will get sorted out straight away.

Negative Reviews

The televisions in the rooms are small.

If you want to watch a bit of TV in the evening you might find it a strain on your eyes because the screens are small. This place really needs to invest in some bigger television sets for the rooms.

Little in the way of amenities nearby.

You'll be quiet isolated in the countryside when you stay here, with no shops, restaurants or entertainment within walking distance. After the pub downstairs closes there is little to do but go upstairs to your room.

This place is starting to get a bit rundown.

Queens Head is an old building that has seen better days, but some renovation would really help to keep this traditional village pub looking at its best. Don't be surprised if you see a bit of damage and dirt around the place.
