About Kyoto Rich

Set in a ten-storey tower block, the Kyoto Rich boasts a central location and is a mere six-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo metro station. Wi-Fi and parking are both complimentary at this unpretentious, old-school hotel.

Subdued guest rooms with plain decor feature TVs and mini-fridges. Some rooms have seating areas and/or city views. Traditional Japanese-style quarters with tatami floors, futons and chabudai dining tables are also available.

Guests can relax in a modest lobby lounge, plus there's also some meeting/event space. Baggage can be stored at the 24-hour front desk; laundry and dry cleaning services are available too.

A buffet breakfast featuring Western and Japanese dishes is served on the second floor each day. A selection of vending machines dispense drinks of all kinds.

The Kyoto Rich is within a fifteen-minute stroll of both the pretty Sh?sei-en Garden and the striking Kenninji Buddhist temple. Kyoto’s majestic Imperial Palace is two-and-a-half miles away.

Positive Reviews

Central location is pretty handy

Many guests loved the fact that this hotel is only a ten-minute stroll from Kyoto Station and has a bus stop right outside the door which services all of the city's major shrine attractions. Having Nishiki market, the Geisha quarter and the river within an easy stroll was considered pretty handy too.

Customer-facing staff provide good service

Most visitors gave a big thumbs-up to the staff here for the consistently excellent service provided throughout their stay. The diligent team on the reception desk earned the highest praise.

Strong Wi-Fi signal, even on upper floors

You might assume that, because this is a large, ten-storey building, the wireless Internet here may be a little hit-and-miss at times, particularly on the upper floors. Thankfully, very few guests have reported anything other than excellent, straightforward Wi-Fi access - even on the top floors!

Negative Reviews

Lobby doesn't smell good at all

A great many visitors have said that they recoiled every time they entered the lobby area - the smell of cigarette smoke embedded within it is so strong it's almost overpowering.

Hotel looks and feels quite dated

Numerous visitors have remarked that this hotel's interiors - including the accommodations - look so dated they feel like they could be in a timewarp. Indeed, many guests suggested that a comprehensive refurbishment is long overdue.

Small guest rooms have raised some eyebrows

Whilst some of the rooms here are an okay size, it is clear that most guests have found the size of their accommodations quite dissatisfactory.
