Positive Reviews

Very clean and convenient rooms in a comfy hotel

Rooms are spacious and have extremely comfortable beds They are spotless upon check-in, kept refreshed during your stay, and echo the rest of the “home away from home” feeling that the guesthouse conveys The hotel has kept a lot of its Victorian character, and the rooms reflect that, with a bit of additional modern touches.

A great location for budget accommodations

The guesthouse is conveniently located near immediate shopping purchases, and is a perfect base for recreation and sightseeing Black Isle Wildlife Park is only a five and a half mile drive, and the Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Dunrobin Castle, and Glenfiddich and Strathisla distilleries are within an hour to an hour and a half away.

Friendly staff eager to help make your stay pleasant

The staff at Ardross & Glencairn are always ready to assist you with vacation or stopover plans They'll provide detailed directions and helpful insider tips, and congenially work with your schedule if it doesn't match with their usual check-in times They're respectful and friendly with everyone, regardless of age.

Negative Reviews

Noise very easily filters through walls and floors

It doesn't take a lot for the floorboards to creak, and noise easily comes through the corresponding ceiling below The walls are very thin, so moderate sounds between the bedrooms or between the common and the private rooms are clearly heard.

The breakfast is overpriced and should be free

Although there is praise for the breakfast including vegetarian options, it's considered overpriced It's also annoying that it's even priced at all, since many budget accommodations include the meal.

A variety of minor issues with the showers

Several issues affect the showers, such as inconsistent water temperatures, poor pressure, limited storage or hanging space, and lack of an extractor fan.
