About Glede Knowe Guest House

Set in beautiful gardens looking across the Tweed Valley, Glede Knowe Guest House offers guests elegant accommodation within minutes’ walk of Innerleithen’s town centre.

The spacious rooms are bright and elegantly furnished, and feature TV’s, tea/coffee stations, hairdryers, work desks and alarm clocks.

Guests are welcome to relax in the breakfast room and lounge throughout the day, but when the weather is fine the perfect spot is the south facing patio, which has lovely views over the valley. There is ample off-street parking and well behaved dogs are allowed on application.

Full breakfast is served every morning, and it is just a short walk to the pubs and restaurants in town for other meals. The hosts will be happy to offer good recommendations.

The Tweed Valley is well known as the UK’s top mountain biking area. The Glentress centre is just 4.5 miles from Glede Knowe. Traquair House, Scotland’s oldest inhabited dwelling, is just 1.5 miles away.

Positive Reviews

Fantastic views over the valley

This was perhaps the thing that most impressed guest about Glede Knowe. The site is described as a bit elevated with wonderful views over the town, and the Tweed Valley beyond. It seemed to put guests in a positive mood, and gave them inspiration for their hiking or biking that was to follow.

Knowledgeable and friendly hosts

Again and again guests mention how knowledgeable the hosts were, and how they helped them find that perfect hiking route or mountain biking trail. They were also described as very welcoming, to both guests and their pets as well.

Very pet friendly

A few guests who brought along their dogs commented that the owners were genuinely welcoming of them. They definitely didn't get the sense that the pet-friendly policy was just an afterthought, the owners seemed genuinely friendly to their dogs.

Negative Reviews

Perhaps some issues with internal soundproofing

While the location itself is described as very tranquil, a few guests mentioned that the internal soundproofing in their rooms wasn't very good. As a result they could often hear people talking and moving about in adjacent rooms.

No on-site bar

While this wasn't mentioned often, it was pointed out that there was no bar on-site, so guests would have to walk into town and find a pub in order to have a couple of drinks.

Bathroom across the hall

While this only affects two of Glede Knowe's 16 rooms, guests who had the rooms with the (private) bathrooms across the public hallway did not seem terribly happy about having to walk across public areas when going to the bathroom, especially in the mornings when still in their pyjamas.
