About Imperial

This grand old seafront hotel lies just metres away from Ilfracombe's much-loved beach and promenade. Splendid views and courteous staff complement the Imperial's highly coveted location.

Guest rooms are comfortable yet unfussy with central heating, large windows and en-suite facilities. Flat-screen TVs, hair dryers and hospitality trays are also included. Some rooms boast sea views.

The hotel has two residents' lounges and a sea-facing sun lounge for guests to relax in. Free Wi-Fi is accessible in all public areas and limited guest parking is available on-site. A lift serves all floors.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the large first-floor restaurant & bar. Entertainment – usually in the form of Bingo – is on hand five days a week in the ground-floor entertainment suite.

Positive Reviews

Views are glorious.

The views from some of the guest rooms out across the beach and sea really are very lovely indeed. If you're not fortunate enough to get a room with a view then you can always walk up nearby Capstone Hill and enjoy some equally inspiring vistas from there.

Great location.

Nearly everything worth seeing in Ilfracombe is right on the Imperial's doorstep. The theatre, beach, tourist office and prom are literally just over the road while the harbour and town centre take no more than five minutes to reach on foot.

Staff are extremely polite and courteous.

If you're someone who likes to experience good old-fashioned hospitality then you'll be in your element here: the Imperial's staff do a first-rate job of treating every visitor like they are returning VIPs.

Negative Reviews

Not overly suited to young couples.

It is fair to say that the Imperial markets itself very firmly towards older visitors. If you're a young couple or group looking for a fun and somewhat lively place to stay then this probably isn't the establishment for you.

Parking is very limited indeed.

It's hard to believe that such a large hotel offers such modest guest parking facilities. If you manage to get a space then you're definitely one of the lucky ones - it's normally full of coaches...

Still some stairs to tackle.

Although there's a lift serving all floors, some rooms at the rear of the building that still require you to climb up six stairs from the lift level before you can gain access. Something to bear in mind if you have mobility issues.
