Positive Reviews

Centrally located

The hotel is centrally located in Hitchin. The town centre is just five minutes' walk from the hotel. There are many good restaurants and pubs around in the locality and the guests of the hotel get discounts at these places.  The train station is also nearby and other modes of transport are also easily accessible from the hotel.

Good breakfast

Breakfast served at the hotel was very tasty and freshly cooked. There was a lot of variety available for everyone. Regular items like fresh fruits, cereals, sausages and beans were made available, plus there were gluten free and soya milk options on offer. Also, it was served in sizeable amounts.

Friendly hosts and staff

The hosts at the hotel had a pleasant, welcoming attitude. They had extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and guided the guests properly about places of interest. Staff at the hotel was also friendly and helpful, catered to the guest's demands quickly and in a cheerful manner.

Negative Reviews

Poor soundproofing of rooms

Guests said that the soundproofing of the rooms wasn't good enough. Noise from the neighbouring rooms could be clearly heard. Plus, rooms facing the main road were very noisy because of the traffic.

Dated rooms and decor

The decor of the hotel is very tired. The hotel is old and certain areas do require refurbishment. Rooms in the hotel are also outdated. Guests said that the hotel is not worth for the money paid.

Complicated car park

Car park in the hotel is old fashioned. It's a tad complicated and tricky. Guests found it a big trouble to park or remove the car if there were three or four more cars around. It was a challenging task said the guests.
