Positive Reviews

Quality drinking

The lounge bar is the ideal place in which to relax over a drink. Beer drinkers will particularly enjoy the range of real ales on offer.

Northumberland is magic

Something of a hidden gem, every turning in Northumberland reveals another spectacular view! If venturing to the coast, the beaches and sea views take some beating. The town of Hexham isn’t far away and a trip to Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish borders is one of many 'musts'.

Clean and green

The hotel is really clean in all communal areas and guest rooms They also have admirable green credentials.

Negative Reviews

Good morning … or is it

It’s a good job that there’s a great view of the garden. This serves to draw your attention away from the surprisingly indifferent breakfast. It’s not a disaster but, given the big build up, it’s a bit of a disappointment.

You are irritating the staff

Some are exceptionally good, but there is an air about the place that makes you feel that you are intruding and that they have more important things to do Quite what these other things might be is a mystery – because, without you, there’s no income and no job!

Small and tired

Rooms have a tendency to be somewhat cramped and there is a need for some updating.

A closed shop in the bar

The locals tend to gather in their own groups which do not extend to the welcoming of strangers. That’s fine – but, don’t go expecting the long arm of friendship.
