Positive Reviews

A treasure of a place

This is an older hotel originally built in the late 19th century, and it has the charm and characteristics of an historical place With original features and refurbished rooms, the place is classy with rich furnishings.

Great location for touring Yorkshire

The hotel is in a quiet location, yet only a short stroll into the centre of town Harrogate gets a lot of pluses for its charm and atmosphere There are a number of excellent craft fairs that take place throughout the year It’s also a good central location for exploring the Yorkshire countryside.

The hotel is excellent and well run

Most visitors were pleased at how smoothly they were checked into the hotel and the services they received while there.

Negative Reviews

Restaurant not always available

If there is a wedding or a large party, the restaurant may not be available for guests A few visitors said this made them feel overlooked and not as important as a Christmas party.

An eccentric, mishmash of a place

One person’s treasure is another person's mishmash nightmare A few felt the design and interior decorating was an odd blend of elegant Victorian, 1950s kitsch and updated modern facilities.

Rooms uneven

The hotel is housed in an old home, and the rooms have been converted for optimal use In some cases, this means a long, narrow corridor of a room, a bathroom suitable mainly for anorexics and walls that feel a bit off.
